The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) is pleased to announce the next webinar in the Healthy People 2030 Webinar Series: Healthy People, Healthy Hearts: Healthy People 2030 and Cardiovascular Health. During this one-hour webinar, presenters will provide an overview of four featured Healthy People 2030 cardiovascular disease-related objectives, their connections to one another, and current progress toward meeting their targets. Additionally, the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services will share details on their efforts to address adolescent obesity and prevent cardiovascular disease.

Healthy People 2030 Seeks Public Input on Proposed New Objective

HHS is seeking written comments on a proposed new objective for Healthy People 2030. HHS invites members of the public — both individuals and organizations — to provide comments about the new objective for HHS to consider. This objective is currently a research objective, SDOH-R02. Transitioning the objective to core status will allow a target to be established and progress toward achieving the target to be tracked.

Two New Co-Chairs of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition Sworn in

This past week, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra had the pleasure of swearing in two new co-chairs of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition (PCSFN). Culinary Innovator, educator, and humanitarian José Andrés and WNBA Player and Olympic Gold Medalist Elena Delle Donne were both appointed this spring by the President to two-year terms. This past week, they took the oath of their office in a small ceremony at HHS headquarters in Washington, DC.
