Interventions for Female Drug-Using Offenders

About this resource:

Systematic Review

Source: The Cochrane Collaborative

Last Reviewed: June 2015

In this Cochrane systematic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found that for females who use drugs and have been convicted of crimes , any psychosocial intervention reduced later reincarceration compared to treatment as usual. These interventions include use of therapeutic communities, community‐based management, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychotherapy. Researchers also found that psychosocial interventions didn’t reduce rates of rearrest or drug misuse.
