What are viewers & players (plug-ins)?
Some odphp.health.gov webpages have links to files that may require extra software, or plug-ins, for you to play the files. This includes files on odphp.health.gov and microsites like MyHealthfinder and Healthy People. Plug-ins are optional software additions that let you do things like watch videos, hear sounds and music, and read certain types of documents.
How do I get the plug-ins I need?
You can download the plug-ins below for free. They will enable you to view or play all of the file formats on odphp.health.gov.
- Documents in PDF format require Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you have problems with PDF documents, please download the latest version of the Acrobat Reader.
- Documents in DOC format require Microsoft Word or Word Viewer. Word Viewer is retired — if you don’t have Microsoft Word, check out this resource to learn about other ways to view DOC files.
- Documents in Excel format require Excel Viewer. Excel Viewer is retired — if you don’t have Microsoft Excel, check out this resource to learn about other ways to view Excel files.
