At the 2015 Health Datapalooza conference in June, Karen DeSalvo, MD, MPH, MSc, Acting Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH) and National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), introduced a collaboration between HHS and CVS Health to increase access to information about preventive services through ODPHP’s myhealthfinder tool:
To make myhealthfinder more readily available to more people, we recently developed a free, publically available application programming interface (API) to integrate the tool into any website. The API imports up-to-date information directly from healthfinder.gov. When you use myhealthfinder on other websites, you will always have access to the most accurate prevention and wellness information and recommendations that are supported by current science through the API. CVS Health is using the API to integrate myhealthfinder into MinuteClinic websites as part of a pilot project that will help us gather important information that could inform improvements to future versions of the tool.
