Between October 18–21, this website will move to a new web address (from health.gov to odphp.health.gov). During that time, some functions might not work as expected. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we’re working to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Our Work

At ODPHP, we lead the nation’s disease prevention and health promotion efforts on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As part of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, we work closely with other HHS agencies — and with committed national partners and organizations that span sectors. Together, we can help achieve ODPHP's vision of a nation in which all people lead healthy and active lives.

National Health Initiatives

Through our national health initiatives, we set priorities for improving the health of all people. Across our initiatives, we prioritize efforts to reduce health disparities and advance health equity.
