Each month, we feature select National Health Observances (NHOs) that align with our priorities for improving health across the Nation. And to help you spread the word, we provide links to resources that you can use to promote these NHOs.
The NHOs in our July roundup help raise awareness about the benefits of youth sports participation and the burden of viral hepatitis. Check out the resources below — and join us in helping all Americans live healthier lives.
- National Youth Sports Week (7/15 to 7/21)
The National Council of Youth Sports sponsors National Youth Sports Week each year to raise awareness about the benefits of sports and physical activity for young people. Use our Move Your Way fact sheet for kids to help get young people moving! You can also share our interactive graphic with parents to help them build a physical activity plan for their kids. (Also, be sure to sign up for our listserv to stay up to date on the development of the new National Youth Sports Strategy!) - World Hepatitis Day (7/28)
Each year on July 28, we celebrate World Hepatitis Day — a day to raise awareness about viral hepatitis, which affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Use the World Hepatitis Alliance’s campaign materials to spread the word! You can also share healthfinder’s resource on preventing hepatitis B. And, to learn about national efforts to prevent diseases like hepatitis, check out the Healthy People 2020 objectives related to infectious diseases.
Use these resources to promote National Youth Sports Week and World Hepatitis Day — and help us improve the Nation’s health.
