In September 2024, a professionally diverse panel of medical and nutrition experts proposed a set of recommended nutrition competencies for medical students and physician trainees. According to the researchers, incorporating competencies into medical education has the potential to improve health by equipping physicians with the knowledge they’ve long needed to advise patients about nutrition and food choices.
