In this Cochrane systematic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found that educational programs can improve knowledge and understanding of sickle cell disease and decrease depression in people who have sickle cell disease. Researchers also found that these interventions can improve caregivers’ knowledge about sickle cell disease, though the effect on caregiver knowledge was not sustained in the studies included in the review.
