History
In 2024, this objective was revised due to the 2019 NHIS redesign and survey question changes. The baseline questions changed from: "Do you have any trouble seeing, even when wearing glasses or contact lenses? Yes/No" to "Do you have any difficulty seeing? Would you say: No difficulty, Some difficulty, A lot of difficulty, or Cannot do this at all?" The baseline was revised from 4.3% in 2017 to 0.9% in 2023. The target was revised from 6.2% to 2.1%. The trend data become unavailable due to the survey changes, thus, the target setting method was changed from projection to percentage point improvement.
Footnotes
1. Because Healthy People 2030 objectives have a desired direction (e.g., increase or decrease), the confidence level of a one-sided prediction interval can be used as an indication of how likely a target will be to achieve based on the historical data and fitted trend.
