The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends against thyroid cancer screening in the general population. This recommendation applies to adults who:

  • Don’t have a family history of thyroid cancer
  • Don’t have previous exposure
  • Don’t have certain inherited genetic cancer conditions
  • Don’t have symptoms
