The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) recommends multicomponent interventions to increase screening for colorectal cancer. Interventions are effective in increasing screening with colonoscopy or fecal occult blood testing. CPSTF found that these interventions are most effective when they combine strategies to increase:
- Community demand for cancer screening
- Access to cancer screening
- Provider delivery of services
CPSTF found that these interventions can increase screening in underserved populations. If access to appropriate follow-up care and treatment are provided, they may improve health for these groups.
