The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends screening for high blood pressure in adults age 18 or older who don’t have known high blood pressure. USPSTF suggests yearly screening for adults age 40 years or older and those who are at increased risk for high blood pressure. In addition, USPSTF recommends getting blood pressure measurements outside the clinical setting to confirm a high blood pressure diagnosis before starting treatment.
