Informant Questionnaire on Cognitive Decline in the Elderly (IQCODE) for the Detection of Dementia within Community Dwelling Populations

About this resource:

Systematic Review

Source: The Cochrane Collaborative

Last Reviewed: July 2021

"In this Cochrane systemic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found that the Informant Questionnaire on Cognitive Decline in the Elderly (IQCODE) misdiagnoses dementia if used on its own in community dwelling older adults.

Although the overall accuracy of IQCODE falls into a reasonable range, it would incorrectly diagnosis dementia in many people and miss the condition in others. The review found that the 16-item IQCODE is just as accurate as the 26-item version. The shorter version may be preferable since it has less of a burden and has similar levels of accuracy as the longer one."
