This Call to Action invites partners at multiple levels and from various sectors to help prevent skin cancer. Skin cancer is a major public health problem in the United States. The goal of this report is to increase awareness of skin cancer and to recommend actions to reduce its risk. Its sections address:

  • The problem of skin cancer and its major risk factors
  • Evidence on preventing skin cancer, including initiatives in the United States and in other countries
  • Gaps in research related to skin cancer prevention, highlighting areas where more work is needed
  • Specific actions to take to prevent skin cancer by reducing ultraviolet exposure in the U.S. population
