In this Cochrane systemic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found that supervised, regular use of fluoride mouth rinse can reduce tooth decay in children and adolescents. The review included trials that compared fluoride mouth rinse with a placebo or no treatment for children (ages 6 to 14 years). Researchers found that after 2 to 3 years, fluoride mouth rinse can reduce tooth decay in permanent teeth. They found little information about unwanted side effects and no information on its effect on baby teeth.
