A growing body of research suggests ways to help prevent or delay dementia instead of merely treating it and reducing its impact. This National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine report examines evidence regarding the effectiveness of preventive interventions for clinical Alzheimer’s-type dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and age-related cognitive decline. The report also makes recommendations for future research to improve methodologies and advance understanding of the effectiveness of interventions.
