Summary
Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness in the United States, and it’s more common in some racial/ethnic groups. It has no early symptoms, so half of people with glaucoma don’t know they have it until they start losing their vision. Dilated eye exams can catch glaucoma early, and treatments like medicated eye drops and laser eye surgery can help prevent or slow vision loss.
