Thanks to vaccines, measles has been officially eliminated in the United States — but there have been outbreaks in recent years. There have also been outbreaks of mumps. Young children need 1 dose of the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine by age 2 years to prevent these diseases. Partnerships between community organizations, local governments, and vaccination providers are key to maintaining MMR vaccination rates in young children.
