The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends text messaging interventions to help people with chronic diseases take their medicines correctly. In these interventions, people who have at least 1 chronic medical condition get text messages reminding or encouraging them to take their medicines as prescribed. Health care providers can personalize the messages for patients, and the interventions may involve 2-way communication.
