Each month, we feature select National Health Observances (NHOs) that align with our priorities for improving health across the Nation. And to help you spread the word, we provide links to resources that you can use to promote these NHOs.
The NHOs in our June roundup help raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, HIV testing, and more! Check out the resources below — and join us in helping all Americans live healthier lives.
- Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month
Sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month raises awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Share these infographics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help spread the word. And check out the Healthy People 2020 topic area about Alzheimer’s and other dementias. - National Safety Month
Each year, the National Safety Council promotes 4 safety topics for National Safety Month. This year’s topics are recognizing safety hazards, preventing falls, coping with fatigue, and staying safe and alert at work. Check out healthfinder’s toolkit to help spread the word about safety in June! - World Sickle Cell Day (6/19)
World Sickle Cell Day raises awareness about this blood disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. Use resources from the HHS Office of Minority Health and CDC to help spread the word, and share healthfinder’s newborn screening topic to encourage parents get their newborns tested for sickle cell disease. - National HIV Testing Day (6/27)
HIV.gov sponsors National HIV Testing Day to emphasize the importance of getting tested. Check out the Healthy People 2020 HIV topic area. Then use healthfinder’s toolkit and CDC’s resources to encourage everyone to get tested for HIV!
We hope you’ll use these resources to promote important NHOs on your channels and with your networks. Together, we can take steps to improve the Nation’s health.
