Summary

People with more education have opportunities for higher-paying, safer jobs. They’re also less likely to have health problems like heart disease, diabetes, and depression. But many people who graduate from high school don’t go to college, and there are disparities by income and race/ethnicity. College preparation programs, mentoring, and financial aid can help increase the proportion of high school graduates who go to college soon after graduating.
