At the final public meeting of the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (Committee) held in late October, Committee members reviewed and discussed the findings and advice that would be included in its Scientific Report. Also at this meeting, federal staff from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) discussed the next steps in the process the two Departments will use to develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which will be released by the end of 2025. Materials from the meeting are now available.
The Committee is now in the process of finalizing its Scientific Report, which will contain the Committee’s findings from its evidence reviews as well as the Committee’s independent advice on what to include in the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Once delivered to the Secretaries of HHS and USDA, the work of the Committee will be complete.
The Committee’s Scientific Report, along with federal agency input and public comments, will be considered by HHS and USDA as federal staff from both Departments develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
