Summary
Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis are among the leading causes of death in the United States. Most cirrhosis deaths are related to alcohol use, and there are significant racial/ethnic disparities in rates of cirrhosis deaths. Effective policies to reduce cirrhosis deaths include taxing and regulating alcohol sales and restricting alcohol advertising.
