Summary
People who start using drugs at an early age are more likely to develop a substance use disorder. Programs at the school, family, and community level can delay and reduce drug use in adolescents. Evidence-based interventions for drug use include behavioral and family-based approaches, medications for addiction treatment, and recovery support services.
