Summary
Injury is the leading cause of death in children and adolescents. Many of these injuries are caused by motor vehicle crashes, and they’re often preventable. Laws to reduce drunk driving can help prevent motor vehicle crashes. And strategies to improve motor vehicle safety — for example, by promoting use of child restraints and graduated driver’s licenses — can help lower the rate of deaths in children and adolescents.
