New resources are available to help people put the Dietary Guidelines for Americans into practice at every stage of life. Published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), these fact sheets offer practical nutrition information for individuals and families — and for the professionals and organizations that serve them.
The four fact sheets cover:
- Healthy Eating for Babies and Young Children: Information for parents and caregivers on building healthy eating routines from birth to age 2
- Healthy Eating for Kids and Teens: Ideas for parents and caregivers to help children ages 3 to 17 develop healthy eating habits
- Healthy Eating When You’re Pregnant, Breastfeeding, or Postpartum: Information about nutrients to prioritize and food safety during and after pregnancy
- Healthy Eating for Adults and Older Adults: Guidance on nutrition needs throughout adulthood, with considerations for older adults
The resources emphasize eating real food and prioritizing whole, nutrient-dense foods. They also offer information about key nutrients and tips on topics such as affordability and food safety.
Health professionals, nutrition educators, community organizations, and other partners can use these materials to support conversations about healthy eating. Share them with patients and clients, include them in newsletters, or link to them from your organization’s website.
