Healthy People 2030 Seeks Public Input on Proposed New Objectives

HHS is seeking written comments on 3 proposed new objectives for Healthy People 2030. HHS invites members of the public — both individuals and organizations — to provide comments about the objectives for HHS to consider. These would be the first new objectives added to Healthy People 2030 since its launch in August 2020.

Physical activity can be especially important for older adults because it can improve daily quality of life, physical function, and the ability to perform activities of daily living. Despite the many benefits, less than 14 percent of adults age 65 years and older met the recommendations for aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity in 2018. To increase the number of older adults engaging in physical activity across the 5 counties it serves, Active Southern West Virginia (Active SWV) returned to ODPHP’s Move Your Way pilot program.

On September 8 and 9, ODPHP and Trust for America’s Health hosted the free virtual 2021 Healthy Aging Symposium to focus national attention on the health and well-being of older adults.
