Healthy People 2030 is pleased to announce the publication of a new Healthy People in States and Territories web page. This new page provides an overview of the Healthy People State and Territorial Coordinators, a list and links for most recent available health improvement plans for all states, territories, and island jurisdictions, and links to relevant Leading Health Indicators. To learn more about states and territories work to make Healthy People happen every single day, please visit healthypeople.gov.

PROTECT Initiative: Using a Healthy People 2030 Objective to Advance Children’s Medication Safety

Reducing emergency department (ED) visits for medication overdoses among children under 5 years of age is a national public health priority. The Healthy People 2030 objective MPS-01 tracks this important issue. The baseline for this Healthy People 2030 objective is 25.6 estimated ED visits per 10,000 children under 5 years of age, which was observed during 2016-2017, and the target rate to be achieved by the end of the decade is 16.6 ED visits per 10,000 children under 5 years of age — an additional 35 percent reduction.

On June 28, 2023, the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) hosted the sixth installment of the Healthy People 2030 Webinar Series: Strengthening Resilience in Children and Adolescents. During this one-hour event, ODPHP and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics presented on the webinar’s three featured objectives, and Healthy People 2030 Champion Adaptive Sports Ohio presented on their efforts to increase participation in sports teams for children and adolescents with physical disabilities.
