Between October 18–21, this website will move to a new web address (from health.gov to odphp.health.gov). During that time, some functions might not work as expected. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we’re working to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Data Sources

Most data sources used for Healthy People 2030 objectives meet rigorous criteria. For example, they:

  • Have valid, reliable, nationally representative data
  • Have baseline data from no earlier than 2015 and a measure of variability (if applicable)
  • Can provide at least 2 additional data points throughout the decade
  • Have federal government management or oversight
  • Are publicly available

The large majority of data sources meet these criteria. But based on mitigating factors like national importance of the topic, we also use a few sources that don’t fully meet the criteria. Learn more about the criteria for Healthy People 2030 data sources
