Between October 18–21, this website will move to a new web address (from health.gov to odphp.health.gov). During that time, some functions might not work as expected. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we’re working to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Interagency Workgroup

The Federal Plan for Equitable Long-Term Recovery and Resilience (Federal Plan for ELTRR) was developed by the ELTRR Interagency Workgroup with active, sustained, and consistent engagement. The interagency body was formed in early 2020 in response to a specific objective in the federal government’s joint COVID-19 response.

Senior career professionals from over 35 federal departments and agencies collaborated to develop the Plan. The number of departments and agencies engaged in the workgroup continues to grow.

“We know that climate change is affecting the health and well-being of everyone, but especially those experiencing health disparities. Climate change stress will increase in coming years. The path to building health resilience for climate change is the same as the path to creating thriving communities laid out by the Federal Plan for Equitable Long-Term Recovery and Resilience: We need to invest in thriving conditions with our eyes open to the growing climate change challenges.”

— John Balbus, MD, Director, Office of Climate Change and Health Equity
